3 Ways of Installation
Way 1: plug in
You could install it with plug in cord and switch and hang it to the ceiling with hooks.
Way 2: hard-wired
You could install it with provided canopy and hard wire it in a traditional way.
Way 3: Plug in with canopy
You could install it with canopy to cover the original hole in your house and use with plug in cord and switch simultaneously. But you need to cut the cord, reconnect through the canopy yourself.
